The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 on Sunday and are heading to the Stanley Cup final in their first season as an NHL franchise. Wow. Just wow. So many times in sports we see free agents join a new team and not mesh the way GM’s had hoped. Dwight Howard to the Lakers, Milton Bradley to the Cubs, Melo to the Thunder (LOL) and the list goes on. For a team built essentially of all free agents to be this dominant over their first season together is truly remarkable. Congrats to the Golden Knights and kudos to the NHL for implementing a system that not only made a new team competitive, but immediately compete for Lord Stanley.
