3 years ago today, Cole Hamels tossed a no hitter vs the Cubs. Hand it to him. Theo understands the Cubs window is now and he’s going for it. No, Cole Hamels isn’t the flashy Cy Young candidate Cubs fans wanted but lets be real. We aren’t about to dump a combo of Javy, Happ, Almora, Schwarbo and prospects for the hell of it. Hamels adds a Lester-ish level of veteran experience to a Cubs squad that’s thirsty for more. He’s a World Series MVP that could be rejuvenated by a change of scenery. For justifications sake he has a 6.41 home ERA and a 2.94 away from Globe Life Stadium. Last time I checked Wrigley isn’t in Texas. With the Rangers sending a Bote load of cash (see what I did there) for the remainder of 2018 and for a buyout clause in 2019, this is the exact kind of move the Cubs needed to compensate for the disaster that is Yu Darvish. The time is now, Theo recognizes it, lets fucking go.
